Denis Leclerc’s Creation Journal

Work in Progress is the visual journal of Denis Leclerc — a space originally written in French, his native language, but converted into English for a larger diffusion. It brings together fragments of works in progress, unfinished gestures, and unstable textures — all elements that reveal a creation in motion.

Work in Progress: a visual journal, intimate and evolving

Each entry is dated. Readers are invited to follow the evolution of the works, to observe their hesitations, shifts, and ruptures. The images shared are often transitional versions, annotated or accompanied by short reflections. This journal is also home to a parallel voice: Ego Klar.

Between abstraction and material

Through Work in Progress, Denis explores blurred, metallic, and at times nearly imperceptible forms. These are slow-building compositions shaped by visual tension and a constant search for precision. Digital matter becomes a testing ground: textures, layers, gestures, and depth form a visual language.

A double voice

In several entries, Denis engages in a dialogue with a critical alter ego named Ego Klar. This voice, sensitive and elliptical, offers a different lens on the works in formation. It sometimes shifts intentions, reframes the perspective, or poses an unexpected question.

What if the center doesn’t exist? Maybe the whole balance rests on uncertainty itself.

— Ego Klar

Work in Progress is a shifting space. It doesn’t follow a linear narrative, but invites wandering, fragmented reading, and stillness. It offers a glimpse into the making of an artwork — a way of inhabiting doubt with slowness and care.
