Abstract digital artwork from the Digital Fragments series by Denis Leclerc. Swirling organic forms in peach, ivory, and umber tones blend into a fluid, blurred composition, evoking the sensation of memory and sensuality. Digital Fragments 415

Sometimes the Forms Collapse Entirely

In Digital Fragments 415, the boundary between figure and field dissolves into a fluid, almost liquid gesture. What remains is not a scene, not even a suggestion—but a sensation. The impression of something once seen, now softened beyond memory.

There’s a Kind of Sensual Erosion Happening in Digital Fragments 415.

The palette retains traces of flesh—peach, umber, slate—and yet none of it is flesh. It’s the memory of warmth, the residue of bodies, friction, touch. Everything appears as if behind glass or ice, smudged and slipping, caught mid-movement. As if the image were trying to forget itself.

This work pushes my exploration further into abstraction—not for the sake of opacity, but to open up the interpretive field. There’s no central form to decode. Instead, what you see depends on how long you stay. The eye invents as much as it observes.

It’s an invitation to linger in ambiguity

As part of my ongoing Digital Fragments series, this piece continues my interest in how digital abstraction can carry emotional and sensory weight. I’m drawn to that strange territory between clarity and blur—where meaning becomes unstable, and where imagination fills the space that definition leaves behind. Like its siblings, Digital Fragments 413 and 414, this work resists fixed interpretation. It unfolds differently depending on the viewer, the moment, and the mood.

The print is produced on Hahnemühle metallic paper, a museum-grade substrate known for its rich tonal depth and archival permanence. This paper captures subtle gradients and luminous shifts, which amplify the emotional resonance of the image. The result is both precise and atmospheric, catching light in unexpected ways.

Each print is part of a signed and numbered limited edition, available through my studio. The work is printed at full resolution and framed upon request. I believe that even in digital form, abstraction can be intimate. The goal is not just to make something visually compelling, but to create a moment—something to slow you down, something that might echo inside.

Digital Fragments 407

Interaction Between Gesture and Colour

Digital Fragments 407 emerged from a spontaneous interaction between gesture and colour. What began as curved forms quickly evolved. Saturated blues and yellows asserted themselves, creating a sculptural rhythm against a soft, atmospheric background.

At first, a thin diagonal line near the bottom right appeared by accident. Instead of removing it, I chose to keep it. That subtle mark became a quiet reminder that chance and intention often coexist in abstract work. In many cases, it is the unexpected that brings a composition to life.

Digital Fragments 407 is part of the larger Digital Fragments Series. This body of work explores abstraction in the digital realm, balancing gesture, texture, and light. Each piece aims to preserve a trace of movement, suspended in a state of stillness.

Digital Fragments 407 was also featured in the Festival Franco-Ontarien 2025, as part of a group exhibition celebrating the diversity of Franco-Ontarian artists presented by BRAVO.

Digital Fragments 404

Where Form and Fluidity Intersect

Digital Fragments 404 continues Denis Leclerc’s exploration of digital abstraction, where form and fluidity intersect in a visual space that feels both structured and unstable. This artwork captures the moment just before form dissolves—when clarity begins to fade, and movement takes over.

Bold, saturated hues—deep reds, vibrant blues, and shimmering metallic tones—collide with blurred and stretched textures. These visual elements evoke transformation and motion. Light plays across the surface, altering perception and distorting depth. As a result, the piece invites viewers to question what is fixed and what is fleeting.

Positioning Digital Fragments 404 Within Contemporary Art

Inspired by movements like Post-Digital Abstraction, Neo-Expressionism, and the Digital Sublime, Digital Fragments 404 resonates with the energy of gestural painting while embracing the flexibility of digital media. It also shares a visual language with Glitch Art, yet remains closer in spirit to digital impressionism and liminal art, where the image floats between reality and disappearance.

A short animated version of Digital Fragments 404, generated by AI, extends its visual language into motion. This experiment examines how artificial intelligence interprets artistic fluidity, blending human intuition with algorithmic process. The result is a tension between mechanical translation and aesthetic intent.

Ultimately, Digital Fragments 404 is more than a still image. It is an abstract memory—a visual trace suspended between gesture and atmosphere. It asks us to look closely, knowing that what we see may vanish the next moment.

This digital artwork is using strokes of loaded brushes of light colours  to build up a background on which is built the main colour theme of monochromatic colours. The strokes are elongated, creating a sense of movement and fluidity in the piece. As the name suggests, this artwork is made up of fragments that come together to form a cohesive whole.

The choice of monochromatic colors adds depth and sophistication to the piece, while still allowing for subtle variations within the chosen color palette. This creates a harmonious balance between simplicity and complexity.

With the concept of relevancy lingering in the depths of my mind, I painted this composition. Art devoid of relevance is akin to engaging in a conversation with no listener present.  It becomes meaningless and loses its purpose. In today’s digital age, where information is constantly bombarding us from all angles, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and lost in the sea of noise.
