Material Tension

What is Digital Fragments 416?

Digital Fragments 416 is part of Denis Leclerc’s series Ethereal Solid. He created it in May 2025. This work marks a shift in his digital practice. He no longer dissolves reality into abstraction. Instead, he gives abstraction a form. It feels present and weighty.

This piece exists in two forms. One is a printed version. The other is a subtle animation. Each version lets the image breathe. Together, they reveal form, gesture, and emotion. As a result, the viewer sees something abstract yet grounded.

Digital Fragments 413

I created Digital Fragments 413 in May 2025 as part of my ongoing Digital Fragments series—a space where I let ambiguity guide the process. I never know exactly what’s going to emerge, and that’s part of the thrill.

However, this one felt different. There was something blooming in it—maybe floral, maybe anatomical. Because of that, I kept adding detail, slowly and carefully. That’s where the illusion starts to take shape: in the shadows, in the way the light touches the edges. In fact, it’s those tiny moments of texture that give the floating forms something to hold onto, something real.

While I often work between extremes, I’m always trying to find that balance—between control and accident, suggestion and clarity. Therefore, I hope this one invites you to look more than once.
